Homeland Security Threat Level: YELLOW (ELEVATED)

Significant National Weather

South
The region will be dry and cool except for scattered light rain over the central Gulf Coast to Tennessee and portions of Florida.
Northeast
New England will experience high winds, rain and snow showers as a storm moves out of the region. Rain showers are also forecast from western New York to West Virginia.
Midwest
Snow showers are forecast for northern Michigan, northern sections of North Dakota and light rain showers are possible across parts of the Ohio Valley. Lake effect rain and snow showers will develop off the Great Lakes through Thursday. Winds will increase across the northern Plains and Upper Midwest.
West
Coastal rain and higher elevation snow is likely from Northern California to the Northern Rockies through Friday night. The northern High Plains will see snow and temperatures 20 to 25 degrees below average while some lower elevations can expect rain through Thursday.

Severe Thunderstorms â Maryland

On November 17, a severe thunderstorm caused damage to buildings, downed trees and power lines and caused multiple road closures in Baltimore County, Maryland. No injuries or fatalities were reported but a large apartment complex sustained significant damage. The American Red Cross is assisting displaced families. FEMA Region III staff will participate in Joint Preliminary Damage Assessments for the Individual Assistance Program on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010.
