Homeland Security Threat Level: YELLOW (ELEVATED)

Significant National Weather:

West:
A low pressure system will bring snow to the Northern and Central Rockies. Snowfall amounts will range from 1 to 8 inches. Lows will range from 0 degrees in the interior to the 40s along coastal California and the deserts.
Midwest:
The system moving out of the Rockies will produce 1 to 3 inches of snow in the Northern and Central Plains and snow showers as far east as the Upper Mississippi Valley. The system that brought blizzard conditions to the region yesterday has weakened and moved off to the northeast but will bring rain and thunderstorms across the eastern third of the Nation. Some areas could receive as much as an inch of rain with additional heavy rain tomorrow.
Northeast:
The storm discussed above will produce widespread precipitation. Rainfall across the northern Mid-Atlantic will be as much as an inch and a half. Temperatures will be mild, as much as 5 to 15 degrees above average. Northern New England will see a wintery mix of rain and snow. Additional rain is expected tomorrow.
South:
The tail end of the cold front will produce showers and thunderstorms from eastern Texas across the Gulf Coast and Tennessee Valley. Tomorrow, a developing low in Texas has the potential to produce heavy 1 to 4-inch rains from Texas to the Tennessee Valley. A western snowstorm could bring snow showers into the Texas/Oklahoma Panhandles. (NOAA, National Weather Service and media sources)
