Homeland Security Threat Level: YELLOW (ELEVATED)

Significant National Weather:

West:
A system in the Northwest will result in snow in the Great Basin and southern California, with rain expected along the southern coast. This system is forecast to expand into the Central Rockies and parts of the Upper Midwest into Tuesday.
Midwest:
Blizzard and Winter Storm Watches are in effect across the Northern Plains. Snowfall accumulations of 6-12 inches are expected, with over 20 inches possible in higher elevations. Winds of 25-35 mph with stronger gusts will reduce visibilities to less than ¼ mile, creating whiteout conditions and snow drifts, resulting in difficult travel conditions. A winter storm developing over the Upper Great Lakes will bring temperatures of 10-15 degrees below average to parts of the Upper Midwest. There is a chance for freezing rain/rain mixed over parts of the Middle Missouri Valley on Tuesday morning.
South:
Showers and thunderstorms will develop over the western Gulf Coast this morning and expand into the Southern Plains/Central Gulf Coast by Tuesday. Showers and thunderstorms in Florida will expand into the eastern Gulf Coast and through the Southeast into the Mid-Atlantic coast by Tuesday morning. southern tip of Florida Sunday night will expand into the Gulf Coast today and move to the Southeast
Northeast:
Snow will develop over portions of the Northeast beginning this afternoon and ending on Tuesday morning.
