Homeland Security Threat Level: YELLOW (ELEVATED)

Significant National Weather

West:
Two storms systems continue to impact the west through midweek. One system is producing snow from Colorado to the Northern Plains, and rain in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Idaho. The second system is producing rain and mountain snow in the Northwest and northern California.
Midwest:Â*
Unseasonably warm temperatures will continue in the Midwest. Morning fog may become locally dense across parts of the Great Lakes and visibility may be limited to less than half mile for parts of Michigan, Ohio, western Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
Northeast:
Rain continues through early morning in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Strong winds are expected across southeastern Massachusetts, southern Rhode Island, and eastern Long Island with sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph and gusts over 40 mph.
South:
The region will remain dry through Friday except for the Southern Plains which could see rain or thunderstorms later in the week.

Tropical Weather Outlook

Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of MexicoÂ*
A weak low pressure system located over portions of Puerto Rico, the northern Leeward Islands, and the Virgin Islands has a low chance, near 10 percent, of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours. Regardless of development, locally heavy rainfall will continue over portions of the northern Leeward Islands and Puerto Rico during the next few days.
Central, Eastern, and Western Pacific
Tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 48 hours.
