Significant National Weather

West
Another system moving eastward from the Pacific Northwest is expected to produce more snow over the Northern Rockies and High Plains today. This storm is following the path of a stronger winter storm that created blizzard conditions over parts of the Northern and Central Rockies last week. Rain and mountain snow continues for the Pacific Northwest and Cascades into Monday. Light rain is forecast for portions of the Desert Southwest throughout the day.
Midwest
Light rain is expected from the Upper Mississippi Valley into the western Ohio Valley today, with warmer than normal temperatures anticipated throughout the region.
South
Thunderstorms and much needed rain are possible in the eastern Texas region and the Lower Mississippi Valley beginning Sunday night and into Monday. Temperatures are forecast to be 15 to 20 degrees above average from the Great Lakes to the Southern Plains.
Northeast
The region is expected to be dry; however, scattered rain showers are forecast from West Virginia to New York and New England beginning on Monday.

Severe Winter Storm â Central Rockies

Winter weather continues to trigger transportation hazards affecting main routes of transportation throughout Utah, Wyoming and Colorado. In Utah multiple accidents, some involving as many as six or seven vehicles, occurred throughout the state Saturday. In Wyoming, the state Department of Transportation (DOT) reports portions of Interstate 80 closed and Westbound Interstate 70 lanes are closed in the Georgetown area of Colorado. Transportation hazards may continue through Sunday.Â*
Severe Storms in Western Alaska

Â*Winter storm warnings along the western coast of Alaska, associated with traditional weather patterns, will continue through Sunday afternoon. Coastal flooding is possible on the Kuskokwim Delta overnight, where extensive storm surge and wind damage occurred last week.
State/Local Response:
Operations for the AK State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) were transferred to the Duty Office for the weekend; the EOC will resume operations Monday, Nov 14th. Power was restored to the Inupiat village of Point Hope on Friday and residents are returning to their homes. All American Red Cross shelters have closed. Local assessments for coastal property loss, flooding and wind damage are continuing; however, ongoing weather conditions and snow cover are slowing progress. Preparations in anticipation of a request for Joint PDAs continue with coordination between the Region and the State. There have been no reports of injuries or fatalities, and no requests for FEMA assistance.
Federal Response:
The National Watch Center (NWC) is at Enhanced Watch during the day and Region X RRCC is at Watch/Steady State. Two Region X liaisons are augmenting the AK Emergency Operations Center and a Region X Incident Management Assistance Team (IMAT) is deployed to Alaska. The Region is deploying Community Relations personnel and PDA teams to Alaska beginning Monday, November 14th. Ten Region X generators are available in Anchorage.

Earthquake Activity

Virgin Island Region
A magnitude 4.9 earthquake occurred at a depth of 26 miles offshore of the Virgin Islands on Saturday, November 12th at 7:46 p.m. EST. The quake was located 61 miles northeast of Charlotte Amalie, U.S. Virgin Islands and 121 miles east-northeast of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Numerous aftershocks have occurred in the same region with magnitudes from 3.7 to 3.1. No injuries or damages have been reported, and no tsunami was generated.
