Homeland Security Threat Level: YELLOW (ELEVATED)

Significant National Weather:

West:Â*
A strong cold front will move in from the Pacific Northwest tonight, bringing a quick shot of precipitation to the region. The system will move into the Great Basin causing temperatures to drop as much as 30 degrees in the Central and Northern High Plains on Wednesday and Thursday. A broad coverage of light to moderate snow will accompany this system from the eastern portions of the Great Basin into the Northern Plains and Upper Mississippi Valley.
Midwest:
Moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast from eastern Illinois into the central Great Lakes through this afternoon. Heavy rain, changing to snow, is forecast for portions of Indiana, Michigan and Ohio this evening with several inches of snow likely from Indiana into Michigan by Wednesday morning.
South:
Scattered rain and snow showers over the Deep South will end late this afternoon. Temperatures will be 10-15 degrees below average for the Deep South through Wednesday.
Northeast:
A storm moving in from the south will spread rain from the Mid-Atlantic to New England today. Rainfall could be heavy in areas of the Mid-Atlantic and some thunderstorms are possible along coastal areas from North Carolina to Maine. Temperatures will be below average in southwest Virginia but up to 20 degrees above average over the rest of the region. Rain will turn into snow from New York to West Virginia and western Virginia on Wednesday as the storm moves towards eastern Canada.Â*(NOAA, National Weather Service and media sources)Â*

No space weather storms were observed for the past 24 hours and no space weather storms are predicted for the next 24 hours.Â*
Tropical Weather Outlook

Atlantic / Caribbean / Gulf:
Tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 48 hours.

Tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 48 hours.
Central/Western Pacific:
No tropical cyclone activity.
Earthquake Activity

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake occurred at 5:35 a.m. EST on November 28, 2011 about 65 miles northwest of San Juan, Puerto Rico at a depth of 9.3 miles. Numerous aftershocks followed; however, there have been no reports of damage or injury and no tsunamis have been generated.
