Significant National Weather
Northeast
Snow activity will pick up across much of Maine and the upper portion of New England over the next couple of days. Moderate to heavy snow is expected over northern Maine today and will continue until Tuesday morning. Lake-effect snow in New York will continue near the Great Lakes and visibility could be reduced to near whiteout conditions in some areas.
South
Another storm will move over the central/southern Appalachians producing moderate to heavy snow over much of West Virginia and western Maryland through Monday night, with light snow continuing into Tuesday for the Appalachians. Sub-freezing temperatures continue through Tuesday morning for parts of Georgia, Alabama, Florida and Louisiana.
West
A new storm will produce scattered rain this evening over the Pacific Northwest from Washington State to northern California through Tuesday. The storm will move through parts of the Great Basin and the northern/central Rockies Monday night and bring moderate snow and lower elevation rain.
Midwest
Lake-effect snow will continue in the Great Lakes region and Upper Ohio Valley. The highest snow accumulations are expected in southwest Michigan and northwest Indiana. Low temperatures at night will be exceptionally cold across the Northern Plains and the Upper Midwest with below zero temperatures expected in many areas.

Wildfire Update
As of Friday, December 3, 2010, the National Wildfire Preparedness Level was at Level 1 (minimal large fire activity occurring nationally). For the week, initial attack activity was light (196 new fires) with six new large fires. Two large fires remain uncontained in Texas. (NIFC/NICC)
