Significant National Weather

Northeast
Snow showers continue from northern Maine to western Pennsylvania and in the mountains of West Virginia. Temperatures will range from 10 to 20 degrees below average.
South
Cold temperatures continue in the South from the lower Mississippi Valley eastward. Record lows are possible across the Southeast, generating freeze warnings and agricultural concerns. Light snow or flurries are possible this morning from southern Arkansas to south-central Alabama, as is some light rain along the northern Gulf Coast. From Arkansas and Louisiana eastward, temperatures will be 10 to 25 degrees below average.
Midwest
Lake-effect snows will start to diminish today, but some bands will bring isolated, heavier amounts of snow to areas downwind of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Precipitation in the form of a rain/snow mixture will move southeastward across the Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley before moving into the Gulf Thursday night.
West
Light rain, with snow at the higher elevations, will continue along the Pacific Northwest Coast and Central California. Showers and mountain snow will expand eastward into the northern Rockies, where a foot of snow is possible in the higher elevations of the Washington Cascades. Wind gusts of 65 mph are possible along coastal areas and over the mountains of southern Oregon. Strong winds will develop across southeast Wyoming, where gusts could locally reach 70 mph.
