Homeland Security Threat Level: YELLOW (ELEVATED)

Significant National Weather

West:
Regional snow accumulations will range from an inch or two in Seattle and Portland to a few feet in higher elevations across southern Washington, Oregon, northern California and eastward to the Rockies. The lowest elevations of western Oregon and northwest California could pick up over an inch of rain. Temperatures tomorrow, particularly in the Intermountain West and Northern Rockies, will be very cold, as much as 40 degrees below average. Low relative humidity, gusty winds and high temperatures in southeastern Colorado and adjacent portions of New Mexico, Texas, and the Oklahoma Panhandle will bring Critical Fire Weather to those areas.
Midwest:
Two to four inches of snow is forecast across portions of the Dakotas and Minnesota. Ahead of the approaching cold front, thunderstorms, possible tornadoes, gusty southwest winds, and up to one inch of rain are possible from the middle Mississippi Valley to the Great Lakes.
South:
Scattered thunderstorms, possibly severe, are forecast this afternoon and evening in the humid air mass across eastern Oklahoma, northeast Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. The only other precipitation in the region will be possible showers in eastern Florida.
Northeast:
Rain is likely across northern Pennsylvania and Upstate New York and a wintry mix is expected across northern New England. Icy conditions across Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine today will turn to rain tomorrow. Most of the Mid-Atlantic, southeast New York, and southern New England will be dry.

Earthquake Activity

On November 21, 2010, at 6:46 p.m. EST, a magnitude 4.6 earthquake occurred off the coast of Oregon, 230 miles west-southwest of Salem. No damages or injuries were reported and no tsunami warnings were generated. (FEMA HQ)
