Significant National Weather:

West:
The last in a series of Pacific storm systems will move out of the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies by midday. Snow accumulations of up to 3 feet are possible at higher elevations before the storm exits to the east. Very cold temperatures will follow across the Intermountain West tonight.Â*
Midwest:
Strong winds will affect much of the region throughout the weekend. Gusts of 40 to 60 mph are possible from midday today through Sunday. Snow will move from the Northern Plains into the upper Midwest by Sunday, with accumulations of 3-5 inches possible in northeastern Minnesota, northwestern Wisconsin and northern Michigan.Â* The heaviest snow will fall Sunday evening, with wind chill values in the teens and single digits by Sunday night.
South:
New Years Eve will be warm and dry across the South. Temperatures will remain in the 60s and 70s for most of the Region.
Northeast:
Snow is expected throughout the day in western New York, and central and northern New England, with accumulations of 1-3 inches possible.Â*Â* Freezing rain and light ice accumulations are also possible in these areas overnight and in the early morning on Sunday.
