Homeland Security Threat Level: YELLOW (ELEVATED)

Significant National Weather:

West:
A weakening system will contribute to light rain and mountain snow from the Pacific Northwest into the Central Rockies and parts of the Great Basin through Saturday; heavy accumulations are not expected.
South:
Dry winds, unseasonably warm temperatures and low relative humidity will bring an elevated fire risk today across western and central Texas. A cold front will reduce the fire weather threat tonight and tomorrow. Mild showers are expected from eastern Texas through the Lower Mississippi Valley and into the Central Appalachians. Some thunderstorms are possible along the central Gulf Coast on Saturday.
Midwest:
Temperatures will be 15 to 20 degrees above normal through the Middle and Upper Mississippi valleys. A fast moving, weak cold front will move into and through the Great Lakes region today, bringing a few areas of light snow over parts of the Upper Great Lakes through Saturday.
Northeast:
Mainly dry weather with moderate temperatures will continue through Saturday, with the Mid Atlantic area expected to experience highs in the 60s on Saturday. Across northern New England snow amounts will be light and spotty. A cold front will bring a return to more seasonable temperatures by Sunday.
Space Weather:

No space weather storms were observed over the past 24 hours. No space weather storms are predicted for the next 24 hours.
