Homeland Security Threat Level: YELLOW (ELEVATED)

Significant National Weather

WestÂ*
An early season winter storm will linger over eastern Utah and western Colorado through Thursday night. The heaviest snowfall is expected early Thursday morning.Â* Gusty northeasterly winds are forecast across Southern California as a Santa Ana wind flow develops.Â* Wildfires are possible; but recent rainfall has kept fires to a minimum this season. Western Washington and Oregon will experience showers, while heavy snow is possible over the northern Cascades.
MidwestÂ*
An upper level trough moves into the Northern and Central Plains producing rain and snow across Nebraska and Kansas.Â* Rain will extend into parts of Missouri. Rain will change to snow early morning across parts of North Dakota and northern Minnesota.Â* Accumulations, if any, will be light.Â* Another storm system will move across the Central Rockies through early Thursday night. The storm will produce snow over southeast Wyoming and the western Nebraska panhandle. Rain and thunderstorms is forecast across the Southern Plains.
SouthÂ*
Most of the region will be sunny; however, the exception is along the southeast Texas Coast and from the Southern Plains to Arkansas where showers are possible. Red Flag Warnings remains in effect across the western Florida Panhandle.
Northeast
A large high-pressure system over Quebec will continue to influence the weather over the Middle Atlantic States and Northeast through the weekend. Low pressure well east of the area will continue to produce some breezy conditions near the coast today.Â* Fair weather will continue today through Saturday.Â* Skies will remain clear through the period with light winds; temperatures will continue to remain pleasant during the afternoon with upper 50âs to low 60âs in most areas.Â*(NOAAâs National Weather Service, the Hydrometeorological Prediction Center and media sources)
