Homeland Security Threat Level: YELLOW (ELEVATED)
Significant National Weather: Northeast High pressure dominates most of the region, resulting in dry conditions with sunny to partly cloudy skies. Lake-effect snow showers are expected to continue across the Great Lakes in portions of Pennsylvania and New York. High temperatures are expected to range from the 20s and 30s over interior sections, and the 30s and 40s along the coast. South Dry, sunny conditions are expected across most of the region today. Some showers are expected along the Southeast coast, the Florida Peninsula and southern Texas. Temperatures should be close to average in the Southeast, but will be 5 to 20 degrees below average in the lower Mississippi Valley, Oklahoma and Texas. Midwest Lake-effect snow showers continue in northeast Ohio, with additional accumulations of 2 to 6 inches possible. Forecast high temperatures will be 10-15 degrees above average in the Northern Plains. West A storm system in the Bering Sea is producing gale and storm force winds across most of the region. This system will approach southwestern Alaska this morning, resulting in rain along the Alaskan Peninsula and the eastern Aleutian Islands. Rain will likely mix with snow as the storm moves inland, a few rain showers will develop over parts of coastal Washington. Moisture moving into central California will trigger light rain over coastal areas Sunday evening.
