Homeland Security Threat Level: YELLOW (ELEVATED)

Significant National Weather:

West:Â*Â*
A strong storm system will move onshore today in the Pacific Northwest producing rain and mountain snow in Washington, Oregon and Northern California.Â* The system will spread into the northern Intermountain Region and Northern Rockies by Wednesday. Another storm system over the Great Basin will continue to bring rain and snow in higher elevations of California.Â* Accumulations of 8-14 inches are possible with up to 20 feet in higher elevations. Strong winds and low relative humidity will produce Critical Fire Weather conditions in New Mexico and Colorado.Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*
Midwest:
Blizzard conditions with heavy snow and freezing rain are expected for portions of the Upper Midwest.Â* Accumulations of 6-12 inches are possible.Â* The heaviest snowfall is expected at the North Dakota/South Dakota border eastward into northern Wisconsin where over a foot is possible. Ice accumulations of a quarter to half an inch are possible in Minnesota and western Wisconsin.Â*Â* Showers and thunderstorms, with a slight risk of severe thunderstorms producing damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornados are possible in the Central Plains. Strong winds of 30-40 mph with gusts to 60 mph combined with low relative humidity have produced Critical Fire Weather conditions in Kansas through this evening.
South:
Showers and thunderstorms, some severe, are expected in Texas, Oklahoma, and into the Mississippi, Tennessee and Ohio Valleys.Â* Scattered thunderstorms are possible in portions of Florida and the Southeast Coast.Â* Strong winds combined with low relative humidity will produce Critical Fire Weather in portions of Texas and Oklahoma.
Northeast:
A storm system over the Canadian Maritimes will spread light snow into portions of the interior Northeast and northern New England through this afternoon. Rain and wintry mix expected in Mid-Atlantic to New England by Wednesday.
Space Weather:

Space weather for the past 24 hours has been minor. Geomagnetic storms reaching the G1 level occurred. No space weather storms are predicted for the next 24 hours.Â*
