Homeland Security Threat Level: YELLOW (ELEVATED)

Significant National Weather

West
Showers and thunderstorms are forecast for portions of California with heavier rainfall expected along the coast between Los Angeles and San Diego. Snow may fall in the higher elevations.
Midwest
A cold front will bring gusty winds from the Dakotas to Michigan and may bring rain showers to northern Michigan.
Northeast
Rain and showers will move out of the Midwest and into portions of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey. Areas of southern Pennsylvania and New Jersey may see up to a half inch of rain. The Mid-Atlantic region will experience lingering rain this morning and this light rainfall may also move across lower New England.
South
Showers and thunderstorms, some with gusty winds and hail, will occur along the Red River from Texas and Oklahoma to Arkansas. Showers are expected to spread eastward into Tennessee, Kentucky and Mississippi. Record temperatures could occur across Mississippi and Alabama.

Tropical Weather Outlook

Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of MexicoÂ*
A large low pressure system is located over the northwestern Caribbean Sea between Honduras and the Cayman Islands. Some development of this system is possible; and if necessary, an Air Force Reserve Reconnaissance aircraft may investigate the system this afternoon. There is a medium chance, near 40 percent, of this disturbance becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours.
Central, Eastern, and Western Pacific
Tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 48 hours.
